Inferior and Middle Paleolithic: the first inhabitants (room closed for renovation)

Sala II
After the human evolution process in Africa, testimonies of human presence in Europe date back to more than a million years ago. In the Valencian territory the first evidence was found at the Bolomor Cave (Tavernes of Valldigna), some 400,000 years ago.
Remains of Neanderthals, who flourished between 150,000 and 35,000 years ago, have been found in Cova de Bolomor and Cova Negra (Xativa). Other sites with fauna and industry deposits from this period are Cova de la Petxina (Bellus) and Salt rock-shelter (Alcoy).
